May in the Northern ADKs witnesses pre spawn smallmouth bass located in warming shallow waters feeding heavily and staking out spawning territory, these fish will attack nearly any subsurface pattern presented!!! The fishing can be fantastic and constant…2nd and 3rd of May is best, once the bass are on spawning beds they will not be targeted.
Late October will also witness outstanding bass fishing in the shallows as the bass are feeding for the long winter under the ice.
